Loan period: How long can I borrow something?

Not all Library materials can be borrowed. For materials that can be borrowed, the length of the loan may vary. A maximum of ten (10) items can be borrowed at one time.

Loan periods for Library material

Material Loan Period
General Collection (Books, CDs) 2 weeks
Levelled Readers and Accompanying CDs 4 weeks
Periodicals Perth and Pembroke: 2 weeks
Ebooks Varies by database


Students limited to 2 items at a time
May be booked in advance. 

3 days for students

2 weeks maximum for faculty/staff

Ottawa: in-library Collection Room 2 use only

Perth and Pembroke: In-Library use only

Reserve Collection (Items available on a first-come-first-served basis.) In-library use for 3 hours. Perth is usually a 1-day loan

Same-day on-campus use only. Laptops must be returned at least 30 minutes prior to the Library Front Desk closing.

4 Hour loans available 24/7 from the Laptop lockers at the Ottawa Campus Library. PIN number required (you can request a PIN at the Library Front Desk).
