Course loads: Reduced course load for students with disabilities
Last Updated: Jul 28, 2025 Views: 4

If you are a student with a disability, you may require accommodation in the form of taking fewer classes per semester. If you have a documented permanent disability, you can reduce your course load to as low as 40% of a full course load and still maintain your full-time status (as per College policy AA08: Course Load).

To reduce your course load, speak with your Disabilities Counsellor.  Any changes to your course load need to be made in consultation with the Program Coordinator and the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL). The Program Coordinator will work with you to plan which courses you will take each semester.

Reducing your course load will often extend the program by a semester or two; however, many CAL students who utilize this accommodation experience greater academic success.

For more information about reduced course loads, please contact CAL.
